Seeker churches and mega-churces are unbiblical

Like Ephesus, the modern church has lost its First Love.

Many modern churches have found the teaching of the blood of Christ repulsive and it has been replaced by a more socially accepted gospel. Book-by-book-verse-by-verse Hebrew and Greek exegesis of the Scriptures has been replaced by flowery sermonettes from the newest Christian best seller list. Pastors are now business managers who have no time to dig deep into the Word of God.

Elders are now selected by the phone calls that they make and the handshakes that they receive and the business contacts that they posses, rather than their knowledge and teaching of the Word of God. Weak elders who do not know the Scriptures sit on elder boards and choose more weak leaders (like themselves) who do not value the teaching of the Bible. This kind of leadership weakens the church and produces weak Christians.

Offerings are accepted to pay for the large salaries of multiple staff pastor positions. Tithes are used to buy large homes for pastors who do not want to lose their comfortable position. Youth are separated from their families during worship and trained by young seminary graduates who have not yet gained the wisdom and experience to deal with God's most delicate ambassadors. Missions are neglected, yet walls and gyms and landscape and utilities and multiple-staff positions are added.

Mothers have grown biblically ignorant of their teaching responsibility to their children and have passed off their child's biblical education to young seminary youth pastors who do not have the love, experience, discipline, or biblical knowledge of the mother. Fathers have grown weak and have allowed mothers to usurp the father's position of leadership, causing Satan to move against the wife instead of the husband. Youth are learning from the example of other rebellious youth, and not from the example of biblically mature adults. Children are neglected by their families during worship time and are given to Sunday School baby-sitters.

Large churches which entertain are chosen over small churches that teach the deep spirital truths of God. Churches which "tickle the ears" of their congregation are chosen over churches that teach the depravity of man and his need for a Savior. Large wealthy social club churches with lavid multi-media presentations and multiple gyms have replaced the small church with its emphasis on strong biblical teaching and missions .

We as Christians in America need to pray for revival. We need to return to a strong emphasis on biblical teaching that points to Christ. Christ, not walls and gyms and cute little sermonettes, should be our real First Love!
