11:1 Send your grain overseas, for after many days you will get a return.

Do good things, but the reward may be late in arriving.

11:2 Divide your merchandise among seven or even eight investments, for you do not know what calamity may happen on earth.

Spread your money around so that more people can benefit. This act will stop monopolies, increase the middle class, and stamp out poverty.

11:3 If the clouds are full of rain, they will empty themselves on the earth, and whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, the tree will lie wherever it falls.

If rain is predicted, then carry an umbrella. If a big redwood tree falls to the earth, then it will be difficult to move. Once a situation begins, then one needs to have a clear understanding of it before establishing any new goals.

11:4 He who watches the wind will not sow, and he who observes the clouds will not reap.

If a man wants to sow seed, then he needs to do so on a non-windy day. If a man wants to reap a harvest, then wait until it quits raining. In other words, man needs to act and use time wisely. He needs discernment to keep him out of trouble. Discernment comes from the study of the entire counsel of the written Word of God.

11:5 Just as you do not know the path of the wind, or how the bones form in the womb of a pregnant woman, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.

The formation of the baby in the womb and the physical birth of a baby are still great mysteries today. Spiritual rebirth is an even greater mystery. No one knows how the wind moves. No one knows how the Spirit will move. Do not let what you do not know disturb what you do know. God is in control.

11:6 Sow your seed in the morning, and do not stop working until the evening; for you do not know which activity will succeed— whether this one or that one, or whether both will prosper equally.

Work diligently and sow seed all day long. One cannot see the future. One does not know which sowing will be successful.

11:7 Light is sweet, and it is pleasant for a person to see the sun. 11:8 So, if a man lives many years, let him rejoice in them all, but let him remember that the days of darkness will be many—all that is about to come is obscure.

Light represents life. Darkness represents death. Life for the senior citizen is not always as pleasant as the advertising folders say it is going to be.

11:9 Rejoice, young man, while you are young, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Follow the impulses of your heart and the desires of your eyes, but know that God will judge your motives and actions.

Young men need to fill their souls with Bible doctrine so that they do not waste their lives. Every second of life should be spent in doing God’s will. The only way to true happiness is to discover God’s will and accomplish it. This discovery comes from mastering Bible doctrine from the entire counsel of the Word of God.

11:10 Banish emotional stress from your mind. and put away pain from your body; for youth and the prime of life are fleeting.

Emotional stress comes to those who have not mastered Bible doctrine. They do not have the spiritual capacity to trust God in every avenue of their life. Instead of turning to psychologists and biblical counselors, one should turn to the entire counsel of the Word of God. It is more than enough to cope with stress.

Many young people waste their life on the pursuit of personal wealth, power, and fame. Instead, they need to give each second of their life to serving God. Life is a precious gift. God has given the believer a tremendous amount of responsibility. Life should be used for the glory of God, not the glory of the individual. The chief end of man is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.
