62:1 “For the sake of Zion I will not be silent; for the sake of Jerusalem I will not be quiet, until her vindication shines brightly and her deliverance burns like a torch.”

In verses 1-5, Isaiah prayed for the nation of Israel. He would not live his life in silence. He would continually pray as long as he was alive. He would continually pray for the prophecies which were given in chapters 60-61. He would continually pray for the salvation of Israel.

62:2 Nations will see your vindication, and all kings your splendor. You will be called by a new name that the Lord himself will give you.

Isaiah would pray that the Gentiles will see Israels vindication. He would pray that all of the kings will see the glory of Israel. Isaiah would pray that Israel will receive a new name.

Isaiah did not give the new name of Israel, but Ezekiel would do so almost 100 years later (Ezekiel 48). The new name of Israel will be Adonai Shammah, meaning the Lord is there.

62:3 You will be a majestic crown in the hand of the Lord, a royal turban in the hand of your God.

Isaiah prayed that Israel would become a beautiful crown and a royal turban that God loves to hold in his hands.  The majestic crown was worn by kings. The royal turban was worn by the High Priest of Israel, During the Millennial Kingdom, Israel will rule over all of the Gentiles. They will also become priests to all of the nations.

62:4 You will no longer be called, “Abandoned,” and your land will no longer be called “Desolate.” Indeed, you will be called “My Delight is in Her,” and your land “Married.” For the Lord will take delight in you, and your land will be married to him.

When God gives a name, then it reveals the character of the individual or the nation. Jerusalem will no longer be called “Abandoned” or “Desolate.” Instead, Jehovah will call His city “My Delight is in Her” and “Married One.” Jehovah will take Jerusalem back as His wife once again.

62:5 As a young man marries a young woman, so your sons will marry you. As a bridegroom rejoices over a bride, so your God will rejoice over you.

People will once again live in Jerusalem and become the beloved wife of Jehovah.

62:6 I post watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they should keep praying all day and all night. You who pray to the Lord, don’t be silent!

In verses 6-9, Isaiah mentioned a second group of created beings who will continually pray for Israel. Jehovah has placed literal angelic watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem. Unlike human watchmen, these angels never sleep. They pray all day and all night long for the salvation of Israel.

62:7 Don’t allow him to rest until he reestablishes Jerusalem, until he makes Jerusalem the pride of the earth.

These watchmen will continue to pray all day and all night long to remind God to reestablish the Millennial Jerusalem. If one travels to Jerusalem today, then (and for the last 2,500 centuries), these invisible angels are still on the walls of Jerusalem.

62:8 The Lord swears an oath by his right hand, by his strong arm: “I will never again give your grain to your enemies as food, and foreigners will not drink your wine, which you worked hard to produce.

During the Millennial Kingdom, Jerusalem will never be invaded by Gentile armies.

62:9 But those who harvest the grain will eat it, and will praise the Lord. Those who pick the grapes will drink the wine in the courts of my holy sanctuary.”

During the Millennial Kingdom, Jerusalem will grow, harvest, and eat her own crops.

It is important to note that in verses 1-6, Isaiah was praying towards the goal of establishing the Millennial Jerusalem. In verses 6-9, angels were praying for this same goal. In Romans 11, Paul was praying for this same goal. In the model prayer of Jesus, He prayed Thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. If prophets, angels, apostles, and Jesus pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6), then saints should do so as well.

62:10 Come through! Come through the gates! Prepare the way for the people! Build it! Build the roadway! Remove the stones! Lift a signal flag for the nations!

Verses 10-12 prepare the world for the Messianic King. The people of the Millennial Jerusalem are alerted by criers that their Messianic King is approaching. They need to prepare themselves spiritually for His royal arrival. Whenever words or phrases are doubled, then the message is emphatic.

62:11 Look, the Lord announces to the entire earth: “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘Look, your deliverer comes! Look, his reward is with him and his reward goes before him!’ ”

The criers not only make this announcement to Israel, but they make this announcement to all of the Gentile nations of the world as well. Daughter Zion is Jerusalem. The Savior of the world is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is coming to Jerusalem. When He comes, He will bring His reward with Him.

It is very important to note that the Hebrew word for deliverer is יֵ֫שַׁע (Yeshua), which is the Hebrew name of Jesus. Notice that personal pronouns were used. This verse prophetically gave the name of Jesus 700 years before He was even born! Skeptics have no answer for this kind of detailed prophecy.

62:12 They will be called, “The Holy People, the Ones Protected by the Lord.” You will be called, “Sought After, City Not Abandoned.”

During the Millennial Kingdom, the Jewish citizens of Jerusalem will be given another name which displays their new character. They will be called “Sought After, City Not Abandoned.” Jerusalem will become a holy city full of Jewish believers. Gentiles will be invited to the city to worship Jehovah.
