25:1 O Lord, you are my God! I will exalt you in praise, I will extol your fame. For you have done extraordinary things, and executed plans made long ago exactly as you decreed.

After the Great Tribulation and before the Millennial Kingdom, Israel will sing a song of praise to Jehovah. Isaiah looked into the future and recorded this song. Chapter 25 records the lyrics of this song of the future. The Bible is the only book in the world which records the lyrics of future songs.

God will be praised for executing the plans which He devised in eternity past. God is the Wonderful Counselor of Isaiah 9:6. He is praised for His ability to counsel.

25:2 Indeed, you have made the city into a heap of rubble, the fortified town into a heap of ruins; the fortress of foreigners is no longer a city, it will never be rebuilt.

God will be praised for destroying the city of Babylon. The city of Babylon will never be rebuilt again.

25:3 So a strong nation will extol you; the towns of powerful nations will fear you.

Strong people will praise and fear the Lord. The strong people are those who survive the Great Tribulation and became believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.

25:4 For you are a protector for the poor, a protector for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the rainstorm, a shade from the heat. Though the breath of tyrants is like a winter rainstorm,

Throughout the Old Testament Prophets, “the poor and the needy” was a common term used to identify the Jewish believing Remnant of the Great Tribulation. Jehovah will deliver this future Jewish Remnant from the literal storms and fires of the Great Tribulation. God will save them from the physical and mental persecutions of the Antichrist.

25:5 like heat in a dry land, you humble the boasting foreigners. Just as the shadow of a cloud causes the heat to subside, so he causes the song of tyrants to cease.

The ungodly tyrants will no longer sing songs of boasting. Their day of evil will come to an end.

25:6 The Lord who commands armies will hold a banquet for all the nations on this mountain. At this banquet there will be plenty of meat and aged wine— tender meat and choicest wine.

The Millennial Kingdom will begin with the wedding supper of the Lamb. The best angels, people, food, and wine will all be present at this celebration. During his last Passover, Jesus told His disciples that He would not drink the last cup of the Passover with them until this Millennial Kingdom celebration.

25:7 On this mountain he will swallow up the shroud that is over all the peoples, the woven covering that is over all the nations;

The shroud over Israel will become their blindness. God will remove not only the blindness of Israel, but the blindness of the Gentiles as well.

25:8 he will swallow up death permanently. The sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from every face, and remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. Indeed, the Lord has announced it!

God will remove death for all believers during the Millennial Kingdom. According to Isaiah 65:20, unbelievers will die at one hundred years of age, but believers will live throughout the Messianic Kingdom. The unbelievers will most likely be executed for their unbelief in the Lord Jesus Christ. During the Millennial Kingdom, unbelief will become a capital offense.

During the Millennial Kingdom, God will wipe away all tears. There will be no crime, no accidents, no injuries, no death, no sadness, or no natural catastrophes to mourn.

The reproach of Israel will be removed. All of the Gentiles will honor Israel and desire to be taught by Messianic Jews.

25:9 At that time they will say, “Look, here is our God! We waited for him and he delivered us. Here is the Lord! We waited for him. Let’s rejoice and celebrate his deliverance!”

Israel will rejoice, because they received both physical and spiritual salvation from the Lord.

25:10 For the Lord’s power will make this mountain secure. Moab will be trampled down where it stands, as a heap of straw is trampled down in a manure pile.

Gentiles who come against Israel will be judged in the same way in which Moab was judged.

25:11 Moab will spread out its hands in the middle of it, just as a swimmer spreads his hands to swim; the Lord will bring down Moab’s pride as it spreads its hands.

Moab was like a swimmer swimming in a cesspool. The swimmer does not have much pride while he is drowning.

25:12 The fortified city (along with the very tops of your walls) he will knock down, he will bring it down, he will throw it down to the dusty ground.

This song ends with God destroying every enemy fortress which comes against Israel.
