Leviticus 20
Prohibitions against Illegitimate Family Worship
20:1 The Lord spoke to Moses:
God was speaking to Moses, not to Aaron. Moses was the Law-giver of Israel.
20:2 “You are to say to the Israelites, ‘Any man from the Israelites or from the foreigners who reside in Israel who gives any of his children to Molech must be put to death; the people of the land must pelt him with stones.
Child sacrifice was a common practice among the ancient nations, but God made it a capital offense in Israel. The judges of Israel were to protect the little children. The modern law-givers and judges are not protecting the little children. They allow the sexually promiscuous men and women to murder the child of God who is alive inside of their wombs. Abortion is not women’s rights. It is child’s rights. Judges are to protect these innocent children from their promiscuous and sinful parents.
Many liberals today think that capital punishment is cruel. They think that the electric chair is crude. They are elevating their human opinions above that of God. God knows the human heart. It is desperately wicked.
God commanded stoning. The purpose of capital punishment was not to rehabilitate the criminal, but it was to eliminate him from this earth so that he would not prey upon other victims. The modern law-givers place the rapist, the serial killer, and the child molester back on the street, meaning that they have more opportunities to find more victims. Liberals are placing women and children at risk.
20:3 I myself will set my face against that man and cut him off from the midst of his people, because he has given some of his children to Molech and thereby defiled my sanctuary and profaned my holy name.
If law-makers will not protect children, then God will.
20:4 If, however, the people of the land shut their eyes to that man when he gives some of his children to Molech so that they do not put him to death,
God expects the people to enforce the death penalty on those who do not protect the little children.
20:5 I myself will set my face against that man and his clan. I will cut off from the midst of their people both him and all who follow after him in spiritual prostitution, to commit prostitution by worshiping Molech.
If the people do not demand protection of the little children, then God Himself will move against the nation. Any nation who passes laws to murder the innocent child in the womb will have to deal with God Himself face-to-face.
The purpose of feminism is to elevate the mind of the woman above the mind of God. The end result is fornication and abortion. Many women will vote for godless liberals, simply because these godless women want the right to choose fornication and abortion.
Prohibition against Spiritists and Mediums
20:6 “ ‘The person who turns to the spirits of the dead and familiar spirits to commit prostitution by going after them, I will set my face against that person and cut him off from the midst of his people.
Anyone who practices the occult will lose their Jewish citizenship and be excommunicated from the community.
Exhortation to Holiness and Obedience
20:7 “ ‘You must sanctify yourselves and be holy, because I am the Lord your God.
The only way for a person to sanctify himself is to study Bible doctrine and continually confess sins. (I Jn 1:9) The study of Bible doctrine prepares one for service. The confession of sins cleanses one for service. God will not use an ignorant or a dirty Christian.
20:8 You must be sure to obey my statutes. I am the Lord who sanctifies you.
If a believer loves God, then he will study and obey the Scriptures. It is God who sanctifies. If one is saved, or if one receives divine information from the Scriptures, it is only because God has given these gifts by His kindness.
Family Life and Sexual Prohibitions
20:9 “ ‘If anyone curses his father and mother he must be put to death. He has cursed his father and mother; his blood guilt is on himself.
Those who did not honor their parents were stoned to death.
20:10 If a man commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death.
The death penalty was punishment for adultery. When the Pharisees brought the adulteress to Jesus, they did not bring the adulterer. They both should have been stoned to death. However, Jesus forgave the adulteress, because He is God. Only God can forgive sins.
20:11 If a man has sexual intercourse with his father’s wife, he has exposed his father’s nakedness. Both of them must be put to death; their blood guilt is on themselves. 20:12 If a man has sexual intercourse with his daughter-in-law, both of them must be put to death. They have committed perversion; their blood guilt is on themselves.
Those who committed incest were to be stoned to death.
20:13 If a man has sexual intercourse with a male as one has sexual intercourse with a woman, the two of them have committed an abomination. They must be put to death; their blood guilt is on themselves.
God did not approve of same-sex marriage. Homosexuals were to be stoned to death.
20:14 If a man has sexual intercourse with both a woman and her mother, it is lewdness. Both he and they must be burned to death, so there is no lewdness in your midst.
If a man had sex with mother and daughter, they all were to be executed. The Canaanites and the ancient nations were practicing all of these sexual sins.
20:15 If a man has sexual intercourse with any animal, he must be put to death, and you must kill the animal. 20:16 If a woman approaches any animal to have sexual intercourse with it, you must kill the woman, and the animal must be put to death; their blood guilt is on themselves.
Sex with animals was common among the Canaanites. This was a capital crime in Israel.
20:17 “ ‘If a man has sexual intercourse with his sister, whether the daughter of his father or his mother, so that he sees her nakedness and she sees his nakedness, it is a disgrace. They must be cut off in the sight of the children of their people. He has exposed his sister’s nakedness; he will bear his punishment for iniquity. 20:18 If a man has sexual intercourse with a menstruating woman and uncovers her nakedness, he has laid bare her fountain of blood and she has exposed the fountain of her blood, so both of them must be cut off from the midst of their people. 20:19 You must not expose the nakedness of your mother’s sister and your father’s sister, for such a person has laid bare his own close relative. They must bear their punishment for iniquity. 20:20 If a man has sexual intercourse with his aunt, he has exposed his uncle’s nakedness; they must bear responsibility for their sin, they will die childless. 20:21 If a man has sexual intercourse with his brother’s wife, it is indecency. He has exposed his brother’s nakedness; they will be childless.
Incest with family members was a capital offense in Israel. Hollywood glorifies all of these sexual sins. The writers, producers, actors, and movie fans would not survive in ancient Israel, because God demanded death by stoning.
Exhortation to Holiness and Obedience
20:22 “ ‘You must be sure to obey all my statutes and regulations, so that the land to which I am about to bring you to take up residence there does not vomit you out.
If Israel does not obey these divine standards established by God, then God would vomit Israel out of the land.
20:23 You must not walk in the statutes of the nation which I am about to drive out before you, because they have done all these things and I am filled with disgust against them.
God vomited the Canaanites out of the land for child sacrifice, adultery, incest, homosexuality, temple prostitution, and involvement in the occult. These are the same sins which America is guilty of today.
20:24 So I have said to you: You yourselves will possess their land and I myself will give it to you for a possession, a land flowing with milk and honey. I am the Lord your God who has set you apart from the other peoples.
God was going to remove the Canaanites from the earth. They were a cancer to the world. They were influencing other nations to follow in their sinful paths. This was the result of Adam and Eve’s first sin. This one little sin produced a world of Canaanites who would pollute the world with their sin. Unless God called out a nation to be distinct from these practices, then all of the other nations of the world would have been lost. The promises of the Abrahamic Covenant saved the nations from the Canaanite culture. Even as evil as Israel would become, God still had to keep His promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Through the Abrahamic Covenant, all nations would be blessed.
20:25 Therefore you must distinguish between the clean animal and the unclean, and between the unclean bird and the clean, and you must not make yourselves detestable by means of an animal or bird or anything that creeps on the ground—creatures I have distinguished for you as unclean.
The clean and unclean animals were to be distinguished for sacrifice and for food.
20:26 You must be holy to me because I, the Lord, am holy, and I have set you apart from the other peoples to be mine.
Israel was set apart as priests to teach the other nations about the one true God.
Prohibition against Spiritists and Mediums
20:27 “ ‘A man or woman who has in them a spirit of the dead or a familiar spirit must be put to death. They must pelt them with stones; their blood guilt is on themselves.’ ”
Israel was not allowed to participate in occultic rituals which spoke to the dead. Often, demons might masquerade as a dead loved one in order to fool the one who is asking the questions. This is why seances, Ouiji boards, ghosts, and speaking to the dead are dangerous practices. Those Israelites involved in the occult were to be stoned to death.
