2:1 My child, if you receive my words, and store up my commands within you,

King Solomon was teaching his young sons how to become wise men and wise rulers. He asked them to receive his words and store up his commands in their intellect.

2:2 by making your ear attentive to wisdom, and by turning your heart to understanding,

Solomon asked his sons to make their ears attentive to wisdom. He asked them to turn their hearts to understanding. The heart is the intellect. The intellect is to store up Bible doctrine.

2:3 indeed, if you call out for discernment— raise your voice for understanding—

Solomon told his sons that they need to call out to God for discernment. They need to voice out this request to God so that He could answer them so that they could receive understanding. Spiritual discernment is a gift from God which is given to those who ask. Those who ask will be sent to the Word of God and taught by a gifted-pastor teacher. Paul explains this divine educational procedure in Ephesians 4.

2:4 if you seek it like silver, and search for it like hidden treasure, 5 then you will understand how to fear the Lord, and you will discover knowledge about God.

Spiritual discernment is the most valuable commodity in the satanic world system. It is the only skill which can immobilize Satan and his demons. Solomon told his sons that they must seek this spiritual discernment like silver. They must search for it like a hidden treasure. If his sons will seek spiritual discernment like silver, then they will understand how to fear the Lord. They will began to know the mind of God. The purpose of this earthy life is to know God and make Him known.

2:6 For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

Notice that man cannot find wisdom on his own. It must be given to him by God. God sends gifted-pastor teachers to teach his elect. The Holy Spirit opens up the mind of the elect so that they can understand the teaching.

2:7 He stores up effective counsel for the upright, and is like a shield for those who live with integrity,

Wisdom comes from studying and mastering Bible doctrine. Bible doctrine comes from the entire counsel of the Word of God. One who stores up Bible doctrine in his soul will be able to give effective counseling advice to those who are righteous. Bible doctrine is a shield which will protect the believer from the deceptions of Satan. Paul gives more details of this process in Ephesians 6.

2:8 to guard the paths of the righteous and to protect the way of his pious ones.

Strong Bible doctrine guards a person from going down the wrong path.

2:9 Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity—every good way.

Strong Bible doctrine will help the believer to understand righteousness and justice.

2:10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and moral knowledge will be attractive to you.

The study of Bible doctrine by a gifted pastor-teacher will enter spiritual wisdom into the personality of the individual. Moral knowledge will become attractive to those who study Bible doctrine. The believer will be able to make less human-viewpoint decisions and more divine-viewpoint decisions.

2:11 Discretion will protect you, understanding will guard you,

Strong Bible doctrine will protect the believer from the deceptions of the demonic world.

2:12 to deliver you from the way of the wicked, from those speaking perversity,

Strong Bible doctrine will protect believers from wicked men. Some of the most wicked men in the world are those who are planting a satanic world view into the minds of children through the media.

2:13 who leave the upright paths to walk on the dark ways,

Wicked men will leave the upright path and follow down a dark path for the love of money.

2:14 who delight in doing evil, they rejoice in perverse evil;

Wicked men are born as totally and depraved men, so they enjoy doing evil. They love to bring down other believers.

2:15 whose paths are morally crooked, and who are devious in their ways;

Wicked men follow crooked paths which lead to evil. They are very devious in their methods.

2:16 to deliver you from the adulteress, from the sexually loose woman who speaks flattering words;

Strong Bible doctrine will protect the man from the seductive adulteress who speaks flattering words.

2:17 who leaves the husband from her younger days, and forgets her marriage covenant made before God.

A marriage contract is not only made between husband and wife, but it is made before God. Hollywood seduces those who are young and biblically ignorant with images of pornography. fornication, and adultery.

2:18 For her house sinks down to death, and her paths lead to the place of the departed spirits.

Solomon told his sons that adultery leads to physical death. One adulterous affair can wreck a marriage, destroy children, or infect a couple with AIDS.

2:19 None who go in to her will return, nor will they reach the paths of life.

There is no escape from physical death. The divine cure for AIDS is abstinence from fornication and adultery. Those who break God's laws may pay the price with their physical life.

2:20 So you will walk in the way of good people, and will keep on the paths of the righteous.

The person who masters Bible doctrine will avoid the wrong kind of people.

2:21 For the upright will reside in the land, and those with integrity will remain in it,

If the sons of Solomon master Bible doctrine, then they will be able to remain in the land of Israel.

2:22 but the wicked will be removed from the land, and the treacherous will be torn away from it.

If the wicked in Israel do not master and apply Bible doctrine, then they will be removed out of the land.
