8:1 Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?

Wisdom is Bible doctrine from the entire counsel of the Word of God. Solomon will personify wisdom to his sons as a beautiful and intelligent woman. The adulteress seduced the young man out it the streets. Wisdom is a virtuous and honorable woman who goes into the street and offers her services to all who will receive them.

8:2 At the top of the elevated places along the way, at the intersection of the paths she takes her stand; 8:3 beside the gates opening into the city, at the entrance of the doorways she cries out:

Wisdom sits on the top of elevated places, such as hills, busy intersections, busy city gates, and at the entrance of busy doorways. She gives advice to all who want to hear. This is the opposite of the seductive adulteress who works alone at night.

8:4 “To you, O people, I call out, and my voice calls to all mankind. 8:5 You who are naive, discern wisdom! And you fools, understand discernment!

Wisdom is Bible doctrine. Wisdom invites all of mankind to listen to her teachings. Wisdom calls out to the simple and asks them to receive divine viewpoint from Bible doctrine.

8:6 Listen, for I will speak excellent things, and my lips will utter what is right.

Wisdom (Bible doctrine) will speak of things which are good for the soul of men. Wisdom will speak of what is righteous.

8:7 For my mouth speaks truth, and my lips hate wickedness.

Wisdom (Bible doctrine) only speaks truth and hates evil.

8:8 All the words of my mouth are righteous; there is nothing in them twisted or crooked.

The words of Wisdom (Bible doctrine) is the only absolute truth on the earth. The words of wisdom are righteous. There is no error or evil in Bible doctrine. All Bible doctrine comes only from the written Word of God.

8:9 All of them are clear to the discerning and upright to those who find knowledge.

Wisdom (Bible doctrine) is clear to those who are discerning and upright. Only believers can understand the Word of God. God will give knowledge to those who seek it. According to Ephesians 4, the Holy Spirit teaches the believer by gifted pastor-teachers.

8:10 Receive my instruction rather than silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold.

Wisdom (Bible doctrine) informs those who listen that her instruction is more valuable than silver or gold.

8:11 For wisdom is better than rubies, and desirable things cannot be compared to her.

Wisdom (Bible doctrine) informs those who listen that her instruction is better than rubies or any other material wealth on this earth.

8:12 “I, wisdom, live with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.

Wisdom (Bible doctrine) develops a person’s integrity and peace with God (which is something silver, gold, rubies, and material wealth cannot buy).

18:13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; I hate arrogant pride and the evil way and perverse utterances.

Wisdom (Bible doctrine) respects the Lord and hates evil. Wisdom hates arrogant pride, evil ways, and spoken blasphemies against God. Anyone who is not on God’s side is on Satan’s side.

8:14 Counsel and sound wisdom belong to me; I possess understanding and might.

Wisdom (Bible doctrine) gives men the ability to give divine viewpoint counsel to other people.

8:15 Kings reign by means of me, and potentates decree righteousness;

Wisdom (Bible doctrine) gives a political leader the ability to make divine viewpoint political decisions.

8:16 by me princes rule, as well as nobles and all righteous judges.

It is the responsibility of the electorate to master wisdom (Bible doctrine) and  use this wisdom to elect leaders who possess strong Bible doctrine. This process will keep the laws of a nation in a righteous framework. Failure in this process will lead a nation down the same path as that of Sodom and Gomorrah.

8:17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.

Wisdom (Bible doctrine) loves those who seek her and find her.

8:18 Riches and honor are with me, long-lasting wealth and righteousness.

Those who love and seek Wisdom (Bible doctrine) will experience riches, honor, wealth, and righteousness. During the Mosaic Law, material wealth was given by God to those who were obedient. In the church age, the believer is given the joy of suffering.

8:19 My fruit is better than the purest gold, and what I produce is better than choice silver.

The fruit of Wisdom (Bible doctrine) is better than that of the best gold and silver.

8:20 I walk in the path of righteousness, in the pathway of justice,

Wisdom (Bible doctrine) walks in the path of righteousness and justice.

8:21 that I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, and that I may fill their treasuries.

Wisdom (Bible doctrine) will give its listeners eternal treasures better than the best gold and silver.

8:22 The Lord created me as the beginning of his works, before his deeds of long ago.

God created Wisdom (Bible doctrine) before the foundations of the world were created. Some commentators will say that this wisdom is Christ, but Christ was not a created being.

8:23 From eternity I was appointed, from the beginning, from before the world existed.

Before creating the universe, God appointed Wisdom (Bible doctrine).

8:24 When there were no deep oceans I was born, when there were no springs overflowing with water; 25 before the mountains were set in place— before the hills—I was born, 26 before he made the earth and its fields, or the beginning of the dust of the world.

God created Wisdom (Bible doctrine) before He created the oceans, the rivers, the mountains, the hills, earth, the fields, and the dust of the world.

8:27 When he established the heavens, I was there; when he marked out the horizon over the face of the deep, 8:28 when he established the clouds above, when the fountains of the deep grew strong, 8:29 when he gave the sea his decree that the waters should not pass over his command, when he marked out the foundations of the earth,

Wisdom (bible doctrine) was present when the Lord created the heavens, the horizon, the clouds, the foundations of the deep, the seas, the waters, and the foundations of the earth.

8:30 then I was beside him as a master craftsman, and I was his delight day by day, rejoicing before him at all times, 8:31 rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth, and delighting in its people.

Wisdom personified (Bible doctrine) was intimately beside God as He created the universe. Wisdom was the master craftsman. She was there each day of creation. She was rejoicing at all times. If God involved wisdom in His creation, then surely all men need wisdom.

8:32 “So now, children, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways.

Wisdom personified (Bible doctrine) addressed Solomon’s children in the plural. She asked them to listen carefully to her words. She asked them to keep the ways of sound Bible doctrine.

8:33 Listen to my instruction so that you may be wise, and do not neglect it.

Wisdom personified (Bible doctrine) asked Solomon’s sons to listen to her teachings so that they could gain wisdom (Bible doctrine).  She did not want Solomon’s sons to neglect Bible doctrine.

8:34 Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching at my doors day by day, waiting beside my doorway.

Wisdom personified (Bible doctrine) told Solomon’s sons that they would be blessed if they listened to her advice. They would be blessed if they waited and watched for her at their doorways so that she could bring them more divine teachings.

8:35 For the one who finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord.

The one who finds Wisdom (Bible doctrine) finds life and favor from God.

8:36 But the one who does not find me brings harm to himself; all who hate me love death.”

The one who does not find Wisdom (Bible doctrine) will cause harm to themselves by losing their eternal life. All who hate Bible doctrine love death, because this will be their end result. Learning or rejecting Bible doctrine is man’s only two choices. Eternal life or eternal death are man’s only two choices.
