A psalm of David.

David saw a thunderstorm and wrote a song about it.

29:1 Acknowledge the Lord, you heavenly beings, acknowledge the Lord’s majesty and power!

David asked the angels to acknowledge Jehovah’s majesty and power.

29:2 Acknowledge the majesty of the Lord’s reputation! Worship the Lord in holy attire!

David asked the angels to acknowledge the majesty of Jehovah’s good reputation. He asked the angels to worship Jehovah in their holy attire. This means that angels wear different kinds of clothes in heaven.  Some angelic clothes are declared as “holy” for special occasions.

29:3 The Lord’s shout is heard over the water; the majestic God thunders, the Lord appears over the surging water.

David described a thunder storm which was rising over the Mediterranean sea.

29:4 The Lord’s shout is powerful, the Lord’s shout is majestic.

The shout of Jehovah is powerful and majestic.

29:5 The Lord’s shout breaks the cedars, the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.

The shout of Jehovah breaks the cedar trees of Lebanon. The cedar trees were the tallest and thickest trees in the Middle East.

29:6 He makes Lebanon skip like a calf and Sirion like a young ox.

Lebanon and Sirion were mountains in the Anti-Lebanon mountain range. Jehovah’s shout made these mountains skip.

29:7 The Lord’s shout strikes with flaming fire.

Jehovah’s shout struck with fire from heaven.

29:8 The Lord’s shout shakes the wilderness, the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

Jehovah’s voice shook the desert of Kadesh.

29:9 The Lord’s shout bends the large trees and strips the leaves from the forests. Everyone in his temple says, “Majestic!”

Jehovah’s voice bent the large trees and stripped the leaves off of the trees. Everyone was awed at the sight and sound of Jehovah’s voice.

29:10 The Lord sits enthroned over the engulfing waters, the Lord sits enthroned as the eternal king.

Just as Jehovah brought the global flood, He also brought this local storm as well. Jehovah is sovereign over all weather. Global warmists need to study this Davidic song.

29:11 The Lord gives his people strength; the Lord grants his people security.

Just as Jehovah possess the strength to still the storm, He can also bring peace and security to His people. Peace and security will come to Israel during the Millennial Kingdom.
