For the music director; by the Korahites; a psalm.

This song was written for the choir director of the Levitical priests. The sons of Korah would sing this song at the feasts of Israel.

47:1 All you nations, clap your hands! Shout out to God in celebration!

The Messianic King is coming to earth. All of the Gentile nations need to celebrate by clapping and shouting for His return.

47:2 For the sovereign Lord is awe-inspiring; he is the great king who rules the whole earth!

Jehovah is sovereign over all of the earth. His glory and power are awe-inspiring. During the Millennial Kingdom, He will rule over all of the earth.

47:3 He subdued nations beneath us and countries under our feet.

When the Messianic King arrives, then the nations of the world will be underneath the authority of the Antichrist. The Messianic King will arrive with a sword in His mouth. He will slay the Antichrist, send him to the Lake of Fire, and take control of all of the nations.

47:4 He picked out for us a special land to be a source of pride for Jacob, whom he loves. (Selah)

Jehovah gave the land of Canaan to Israel for an “everlasting possession.” At the beginning of the Millennial Kingdom, God will bring all of the Jewish Messianic believers of history into the land and give it to them for 1,000 literal years.

47:5 God has ascended his throne amid loud shouts; the Lord has ascended his throne amid the blaring of ram’s horns.

The throne in heaven has been transferred to earth. God will rule on earth from a literal throne in Jerusalem in the form of the Messianic King.

It is important to note that God is omnipresent. He can exist from His throne in heaven, His throne on earth (as the Messiah), and be omnipresent in every location on earth all at the same time.

6 Sing to God! Sing! Sing to our king! Sing!

Many nations will not acknowledge God today, but they all will acknowledge and worship Him during the Millennial Kingdom. The Gentile nations and the Jewish nation of the Millennial Kingdom will all sing praise songs to God.

47:7 For God is king of the whole earth! Sing a well-written song!

Since God is the King of all of the earth, then well-written songs should be written about Him. In the satanic world system, music is used to glorify sin and the devil.

47:8 God reigns over the nations! God sits on his holy throne!

Satan is over all of the kingdoms of the world at this time. He offered them to Jesus. Jesus did not doubt Satan’s claim. Jesus refused to accept these nations without going through the atonement of the cross. When the keys are given to the Lord Jesus Christ, then He will take the kingdoms from Satan by force.

47:9 The nobles of the nations assemble, along with the people of the God of Abraham, for God has authority over the rulers of the earth. He is highly exalted!

The nobles of the nations are the Gentile leaders at the end of the Millennial Kingdom. The “people of the God of Abraham” are the messianic Jewish believers who survive the Great Tribulation. They will both assemble together and recognize the Lord Jesus Christ as the Messianic King over all of the earth. The Messianic King will be highly exalted by both Gentiles and Jews, because He will be worshiped as God.
