For the music director; to be accompanied by stringed instruments; a psalm, a song.

The unknown psalmist wrote this song for the music director of the Levitical choir. The son was to be accompanied by a stringed orchestra. The Levites would perform these songs at the Levitical feasts.

67:1 May God show us his favor and bless us! May he smile on us! (Selah)

The psalmist asked God to show His favor upon Israel. He asked God to bless Israel. He asked God to smile upon Israel. The psalmist asked the congregation to meditate and think about these things.

God shows His favor on believers in many ways. First, He opens a totally depraved and evil sinner’s mind so that he can understand and believe the gospel. Second, God sends gifted pastor teachers to help teach the Word of God. Third, the Holy Spirit helps the believer to understand the teachings of the Word of God. Fourth, the Holy Spirit protects the believer from the enemy. Fifth, the Holy Spirit energizes the believer to perform divine service for God. Sixth, God smiles upon the believer when he studies and applies Bible doctrine.

67:2 Then those living on earth will know what you are like; all nations will know how you deliver your people.

When God shows His favor upon Israel, then the evil pagan nations of the world will know what God is like. They can compare the work of God in Israel to the work of their pagan gods in Gentile nations. These Gentiles will see how God blesses Israel.

67:3 Let the nations thank you, O God! Let all the nations thank you!

The psalmist suggested that all of the Gentile nations worship God as well. God does bring air, food, rain, water, shelter, and clothing to all nations. However, these Gentile nations refused to acknowledge or thank God. Instead, they worshiped and gave honor to demonic idols made of wood and stone.

67:4 Let foreigners rejoice and celebrate! For you execute justice among the nations, and govern the people living on earth. (Selah)

During the Millennial Kingdom, the Gentile nations will rejoice and celebrate in the God of Israel. At this time, God will bind Satan for a literal 1,000 years. God will rule on earth through the Messiah of Israel. The Messiah will establish justice among the earth. He will govern all of the Jews and Gentiles living upon the earth.

67:5 Let the nations thank you, O God! Let all the nations thank you!

During the Millennial Kingdom, all nations will thank God. He will no longer be censored from public education and political governments.

67:6 The earth yields its crops. May God, our God, bless us!

During the Millennial Kingdom, the earth will return to its Garden of Eden conditions. The earth will yield bountiful crops of non-GMO food. The food will be healthy, uncontaminated, and plentiful. Their will be no war, famine, or disease during the Millennial Kingdom.

67:7 May God bless us! Then all the ends of the earth will give him the honor he deserves.

During the Millennial Kingdom, Israel will be blessed. They will be the head of the nations and not the tail. All of the nations of the world will honor God, because He deserves it.
