99:1 The Lord reigns! The nations tremble. He sits enthroned above the winged angels; the earth shakes.

The author is unknown. During the Great Tribulation, Jehovah reigns on His throne in heaven. The nations on earth tremble, because God is pouring out His wrath upon the earth via the seal, trumpet, and bowl judgments of Revelation, Chapters 4-19. During the Great Tribulation, God will sit upon His throne. Cherubim angels hold up God’s throne.

The Hebrew word for “shake” is נוּט (noot). It is only used this once in the entire Old Testament. It means to shake, quake, or be moved. During the Great Tribulation, the earth will shake violently from the divine wrath of God. This shaking of the earth will cause the inhabitants of the earth to be queasy and sea-sick. They will become so weak and disoriented in their thinking, that they will worship the Antichrist as god on earth.

99:2 The Lord is elevated in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations.

During the Millennial Kingdom, King Messiah’s throne will be moved from heaven to earth. The new location of the throne will be Jerusalem. The throne will be elevated, possibly by the same cherubim angels who elevate God’s present throne in heaven. (See Ezekiel 1). King Messiah will be elevated over all of the Gentiles.

99:3 Let them praise your great and awesome name! He is holy!

All of the earth will praise the name of King Messiah, because His name is holy, or set-apart above all names.

99:4 The king is strong; he loves justice. You ensure that legal decisions will be made fairly; you promote justice and equity in Jacob.

King Messiah is strong, because He is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. He can do anything. He is sitting on His throne in Jerusalem, but He is simultaneously everywhere at once. He knows all things and is never surprised. He makes and executes fair laws. He is a Judge who cannot be bribed by wealthy and evil men. He promotes justice and equality from Israel. The seat of King Messiah’s government will be based inside of Millennial Israel.

99:5 Praise the Lord our God! Worship before his footstool! He is holy!

Jehovah is the Creator God, so He should be praised. The earth is His footstool. He is holy, and set apart from all others. Therefore, He should be worshiped with praise.

It is important to note that God is not so conceited that He needs praise. He knows who He is and what He can do. It is human beings who need to praise God. Praising God helps believers understand the mind of God. It helps man become less arrogant and more humble. Satan wants man to praise anything and everything except for God. The entire satanic world system praises evolution as the creator, blind luck as the sovereign deity, material wealth as power, fame as charisma, and worldly wisdom as omniscience. Selfish football players, blasphemous rock bands, pornographic entertainers, nude movie stars, godless politicians, and secular scientists are often praised, but praise should only be reserved for God. Any human who performs a godly act should praise God for being chosen, trained, and equipped to complete the task.

99:6 Moses and Aaron were among his priests; Samuel was one of those who prayed to him. They prayed to the Lord and he answered them.

God has often used other humans with strong divine viewpoint to shepherd and lead other sheep on this earth. Moses and Aaron were priests who led Israel out of Egypt. They both established and executed the Mosaic Law. The prayers of Samuel rippled the satanic world system. All of these men possessed strong, divine viewpoint. They prayed with knowledge of strong, Bible doctrine. God answered their prayers. Those today who possess strong Bible doctrine can pray and ripple the satanic world system. This is why it is important to study Bible doctrine at the deepest level.

99:7 He spoke to them from a pillar of cloud; they obeyed his regulations and the ordinance he gave them.

God spoke to Moses, Aaron, and Samuel through His Shechinah Glory appearance on earth. It is important to note that Jehovah was in the camp of Moses as the Shechinah Glory, but Jehovah was also omnipresent, being everywhere at once.

99:8 O Lord our God, you answered them. They found you to be a forgiving God, but also one who punished their sinful deeds.

God answered the prayers of Moses, Aaron, and Samuel. They learned the mind of God. They learned that God was merciful and loving, but He was also a just God who punished sin.

99:9 Praise the Lord our God! Worship on his holy hill, for the Lord our God is holy!

Jehovah should be praised as the Creator God. He should be worshiped on the holy hill, which is Jerusalem. The reason that God should be worshiped is because He is holy, or set apart from all of creation. God is the Creator. Everyone else is His creation.
