A psalm of praise, by David.

Psalms 138-145 were written by David. This Psalm is an acrostic psalm which contains 21 of the 22 Hebrew letters. The Hebrew “nun” is missing for some unexplained reason. There are many human speculations as to why the “nun” is missing, but Scripture is silent on the issue. It is best not to over-speculate on this issue. It is better to concentrate more on the meaning of the song.

145:1 I will extol you, my God, O king! I will praise your name continually!

God is the Lord of lords and King of kings. All kings must answer to God. For this reason, David will praise God continually.

145:2 Every day I will praise you! I will praise your name continually!

Most people are so involved in the satanic world system, that they do not even think about God. David was “a man after God’s own heart.” He praised God every day. An increase in Bible doctrine will cause believers to study more, understand the mind of God more, and praise God more. Those who do not study the entire counsel of the Word of God are worshiping a God that they do not know. Immature Christians will call on the Lord by name, but without incomplete knowledge of Bible doctrine. Immature Christians fill in the gaps about God with their own human viewpoint.

145:3 The Lord is great and certainly worthy of praise! No one can fathom his greatness!

David possessed more Bible doctrine than all (or at least most) kings. He knew the greatness of God.

145:4 One generation will praise your deeds to another, and tell about your mighty acts!

The older generation is responsible for teaching the younger generation about God. Parents who do not teach their children the entire counsel of the Word of God are producing fragmented children who will fill this void with sex, drugs, and rock and roll.

145:5 I will focus on your honor and majestic splendor, and your amazing deeds!

David did not conform to the satanic world system. His focus was on God’s honor, majestic splendor, and amazing deeds.

145:6 They will proclaim the power of your awesome acts! I will declare your great deeds!

David was a powerful witness to the one true God. He raised up and led an example nation for all of the world to see.

145:7 They will talk about the fame of your great kindness, and sing about your justice.

God is not only kind, but He is also just. He will not allow evil to go unpunished. Every evil act will be judged and given a fair punishment.

It is important to note that liberals have replaced the justice of God with love. They allow sin to go unpunished. The Bible never teaches rehabilitation for criminals. It teaches a degree of punishment which fits the crime. When these degrees of punishment are ignored, then there is no justice. This type of inaction causes a nation to fall into moral decay. Moral decay leads to destruction.

145:8 The Lord is merciful and compassionate; he is patient and demonstrates great loyal love.

God runs a perfect heaven. There is no imperfection in heaven. Since man is totally depraved and evil, he cannot enter heaven. He would stink up a good and perfect environment. Therefore, God has to change the nature of man so that he can enter heaven’s gates.

God is merciful, compassionate, and patient in demonstrating His love towards His creation. He does not desire for anyone to perish.

145:9 The Lord is good to all, and has compassion on all he has made.

The Lord is good to all people. He sent the Lord Jesus Christ to die for the sins of all mankind. “He Himself is the propitiation of our sins, but not only our sins, but the sins of the whole world” (1 John 2:2).

Notice that God died not only for the elect, but for the whole world. This is called the doctrine of unlimited atonement. Christ died for all, but many still reject Him. This rejection causes the unbeliever to be judged at the Great White Throne Judgment.

145:10 All he has made will give thanks to the Lord. Your loyal followers will praise you.

One day in eternity, “every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord.”

145:11 They will proclaim the splendor of your kingdom; they will tell about your power, 145:12 so that mankind might acknowledge your mighty acts, and the majestic splendor of your kingdom.

Most of the world today rejects the Lord Jesus Christ. During the Millennial Kingdom, everyone will worship God. The world will be filled with believers who will desire to know God and make Him known.

145:13 Your kingdom is an eternal kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations.

Man was created to live for eternity. The kingdom of God is eternal.

145:14 The Lord supports all who fall, and lifts up all who are bent over.

Whenever a child of God falls, then Jehovah is there to pick him up.

145:15 Everything looks to you in anticipation, and you provide them with food on a regular basis.

Notice that God promises food to every believer. When a nation is starving to death, it is because that nation has rejected God. For example, India practices mostly Hinduism. They will not eat cows, because they may be eating one of their ancestors. They will not kill rats, because they may be eating one of their ancestors. The rats are eating all of India’s grain. The lack of grain causes starvation and famine in India.

It is not the responsibility of government to feed the poor. It is the responsibility of the local church to feed the poor inside of their own local congregation. The church is not to feed the people of the world. If they do so, then they are feeding their enemies. They are feeding the people of the satanic world system. The people of the satanic world system need to ask their father the devil for food. When the devil refuses to provide food to his children, then this may cause the devil’s children to switch sides.

When an unknown beggar on the street begs for food, then this is usually a sign that he is an unbeliever. Another possibility is that he is an immature Christian who does not understand Bible doctrine.

Here is an example of how to handle a beggar in the street:

Beggar: I have not eaten today. Can you give me some money so that I can buy food?

Believer: Do you attend a local church?

Beggar: Yes. I attend “the United Church of God.”

Believer: Have you asked them to provide for your needs?

Beggar: No.

Believer: It is the responsibility of your local church to provide for your needs. If they refuse to do so, then you might consider changing to another church which is more biblical.

The church is to feed the gospel to the unbelievers. They are not to feed bread to the members of the satanic world system. They are to provide for the needs of those inside of their church. If local churches would follow this procedure, then there would be no need for socialist poverty programs. Socialism is steeling from those who work and giving to those who do not work.

145:16 You open your hand, and fill every living thing with the food they desire.

Not only does God feed humans, but he feeds the animal world as well.

145:17 The Lord is just in all his actions, and exhibits love in all he does.

The Lord is just and love. Love means that God does not desire for anyone to perish. Just means that God will punish sin. God would not be just if He allowed evil to go unpunished.

145:18 The Lord is near all who cry out to him, all who cry out to him sincerely.

If anyone cries out to the Lord, then God is there. He immediately answers the call. He may say “no,” but God is still present to support His child by His presence.

145:19 He satisfies the desire of his loyal followers; he hears their cry for help and delivers them.

The loyal followers are those who study and apply Bible doctrine at the deepest level. Those who do not study the entire counsel of the Word of God will not be loyal enough to cry for help. They will not know when to cry for help. They may be so absorbed into the satanic world system, that they do not even recognize that they need to cry for help.

145:20 The Lord protects those who love him, but he destroys all the wicked.

Believers are protected by Jehovah. They are immortal until God calls them home. The wicked are those who reject God. God will not allow Christ-rejecters into the Millennial Kingdom.

145:21 My mouth will praise the Lord. Let all who live praise his holy name forever!

Many humans on this earth will use their mouths to praise the things of the satanic world system. Men were given mouths so that they can praise Jehovah.
