Deuteronomy 04

The Setting and Introduction of the Covenant

4:44 This is the law that Moses set before the Israelites. 4:45 These are the stipulations, statutes, and ordinances that Moses spoke to the Israelites after he had brought them out of Egypt,

Deuteronomy 4:44-26:19 was the second part of the speech of Moses. He was following the suzerainty treaty guidelines between kings and vassals. The first part of the treaty was encouragement to the vassals to follow their king. The second part of the suzerainty treaty listed the specific laws and ordinances that the vassals were to follow.

In this treaty, God was the King and the people of Israel were the vassals. Israel was under a king, a government, and a treaty, just like the other Gentile nations. However, Israel's king was not human, but He was God. Israel's government was not man-made, but their laws were given by divine revelation. Israel's treaty was not created by humans, but it was created by God Himself. Israel's treaty was the Mosaic Law.

It is important to know that the mind of God can be found in this divinely inspired government. Therefore, nations should study these principles and apply these laws in their own governments. A man does not have to keep these laws for salvation, but these laws will help a nation succeed and prosper.

Many of these laws will become a part of the Millennial Kingdom. The Lord Jesus Christ will be King. David will co-reign over Israel as a vice-regent, similar to how Joseph was the vizier of Egypt. Believers will co-reign over the Gentile nations. Some Gentile believers will reign over at least one, five, or ten cities. Some believing Gentiles will lose their rewards and possibly reign over nothing. This is why it is important to study and apply the entire counsel of the Word of God. The purpose of this earthly life is to know and enjoy God. Those who know and enjoy God will receive eternal rewards. Only those who love God will serve God. One can only serve God by knowing and applying Bible doctrine. If one does not master Bible doctrine, then he will serve Satan, but think that he is serving God.

4:46 in the Transjordan, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, in the land of King Sihon of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon. (It is he whom Moses and the Israelites attacked after they came out of Egypt.

Since Moses could not enter the Promised Land, he gave this speech from the Transjordan region. This was originally the land of King Sihon of the Amorites. God told Abraham that the Amorites were a Canaanite tribal group who would be given 400 years to repent. They never repented, so Moses slew them and performed divine genocide upon them. Only God can call for genocide. The next divine genocide will be performed to all of the unbelievers who survive at the end of the Great Tribulation. Another genocide of unbelievers will be called at the end of the Millennial Kingdom. At the end of the Millennial Kingdom, the final genocide will be the transportation of unbelievers in hell to the eternal Lake of Fire.

4:47 They possessed his land and that of King Og of Bashan – both of whom were Amorite kings in the Transjordan, to the east.

King Og violated the Abrahamic Covenant by refusing the peace treaty offered to him, so God exterminated him and gave his land to Israel. The price of violating the Abrahamic Covenant was genocide. The American electorate needs to make sure that they choose political leaders who understand and honor the Abrahamic Covenant. Nations who dishonor Israel will be removed from this earth. Their lands will be given to another people, usually more wicked than themselves.

4:48 Their territory extended from Aroer at the edge of the Arnon valley as far as Mount Siyon – that is, Hermon – 4:49 including all the Arabah of the Transjordan in the east to the sea of the Arabah, beneath the watershed of Pisgah.)

All of this land was on the wrong side of the Jordan River. Reuben, Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh would populate this land.

Rueben would never accomplish any great thing for God. They would become an apathetic nation. They would become the first tribe to be conquered by outside enemies.

Gad would enter into the pig business, which according to the Mosaic Law, was an unclean animal. When the Messiah finally arrived, Jesus would send demons into their pigs. The Gadites would ask their own Messiah to leave the region. The Gadites would love their pigs more than their Messiah.

Manasseh would become one of the first tribes to fall into idolatry. None of these tribes were protected by the banks of the Jordan River, so they were always the first to be conquered and the first to be influenced by surrounding Gentile cultures. Military attacks and demonic influence would greatly affect these two and a half tribes who desired to live on the wrong side of the Jordan.

It is important to note that many modern believers are living on the wrong side of the Jordan. Instead of studying and applying the teachings of the Word of God, carnal Christians spend more time mastering the teachings and techniques of the satanic world system.

According to the wisest man in the world (Solomon), wealth, power, and fame are all emptiness. If one wants to be happy in this life, then one must fill himself with Bible doctrine and apply what he learns. One must find the reason why God has placed him on this earth and in this time period and then fulfill the destiny which God has planned for his life. Anyone who avoids mastery of Bible doctrine at the deepest level will go through life unfulfilled. They will become bored and disillusioned with life.

Those who seek God will be divinely and supernaturally led to the mastery and application of the written Scriptures. The only way to know the mind of Christ is to study the entire counsel of the Word of God at the deepest level. This is why believers need to spend their physical lives mastering and applying Bible doctrine. Nothing else can be more important. Therefore, believers need to pray for the discipline to master this task so that they can love God, serve God, and make Him known.

Deuteronomy 05

The Opening Exhortation

5:1 Then Moses called all the people of Israel together and said to them: “Listen, Israel, to the statutes and ordinances that I am about to deliver to you today; learn them and be careful to keep them!

Israel was to listen very carefully to the instruction that Moses was about to give them. They were to learn and keep this instruction so that they could survive in a godless pagan world.

5:2 The Lord our God made a covenant with us at Horeb.

The children were very young or not even born when this covenant was made at Mount Horeb.

5:3 He did not make this covenant with our ancestors but with us, we who are here today, all of us living now.

This covenant was given to their parents. All of their parents had now died in the wilderness. Therefore, this covenant was not made with the dead, but with the living for this new generation.

5:4 The Lord spoke face to face with you at the mountain, from the middle of the fire.

The Lord personally instructed this new generation face to face with His own voice from the fire on the mountains of the Sinai desert. Out of all of the nations in the world throughout history, God chose only to speak to Israel. No other Gentile nation in history could make this claim.

5:5 (I was standing between the Lord and you at that time to reveal to you the message of the Lord, because you were afraid of the fire and would not go up the mountain.)

Israel feared the voice of God. Therefore, they asked for a mediator to convey God's message to them.

Moses was the mediator of the Old Covenant. Jesus was the mediator of the New Covenant. Prophets spoke in between. Today, believers possess the written Word of God. According to 1 Corinthians 12-14, tongues and prophets have disappeared.

The Ten Commandments

5:6 He said, “I am the Lord your God, he who brought you from the land of Egypt, from the place of slavery. 5:7 You must not have any other gods besides me.

Verses 6-21 gave the Ten Commandments. Israel was already a redeemed nation. The Ten Commandments were not given to the modern church or to the ancient Jewish people as works for salvation. Israel would keep these Ten Commandments to show her love for God.

The first commandment was that of monotheism. Israel was to worship God alone. She was not to worship the polytheistic gods of the Gentile nations.

5:8 You must not make for yourself an image of anything in heaven above, on earth below, or in the waters beneath. 5:9 You must not worship or serve them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God. I punish the sons, grandsons, and great-grandsons for the sin of the fathers who reject me, 5:10 but I show covenant faithfulness to the thousands who choose me and keep my commandments.

The second commandment prohibited idols. God is a jealous God. He does not want His children worshipping demonic idols made of metal, wood, and stone.

In Gentile nations, if a father committed a crime against the king, then his sons would be punished. This is not the case in this passage because God would later forbid this type of punishment.

The meaning of this passage has to do with education. Whenever a father rejects God, then his ungodly influence upon his children can last through several generations. Therefore, the application is that fathers are to teach their children about God. They were commanded to have a positive and godly influence upon their children.

5:11 You must not make use of the name of the Lord your God for worthless purposes, for the Lord will not exonerate anyone who abuses his name that way.

The third commandment was that God’s name was not to be used in vain. His name cannot be used in profanity, to curse, or for flippant reasons.

It is important to note that Hollywood's favorite curse word is "Jesus." The application of this verse is that God will not exonerate anyone who uses His name in a flippant manner. Therefore, Hollywood is cursed. Hollywood will not use their gifts to exonerate God. Instead, they will use their time, money, and skills to blasphemy God. They will use their resources to promote the philosophies of the satanic world system. This is one reason why Hollywood should not be supported by mature believers. It is sad to say that those who possess weak Bible doctrine will be carnal enough to tolerate and compromise with Hollywood.

5:12 Be careful to observe the Sabbath day just as the Lord your God has commanded you. 5:13 You are to work and do all your tasks in six days, 5:14 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. On that day you must not do any work, you, your son, your daughter, your male slave, your female slave, your ox, your donkey, any other animal, or the foreigner who lives with you, so that your male and female slaves, like yourself, may have rest. 5:15 Recall that you were slaves in the land of Egypt and that the Lord your God brought you out of there by strength and power. That is why the Lord your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.

The fourth commandment was to observe the Sabbath Day. Notice that Israel was to observe the Sabbath Day, not because of creation, but because God took them out of Egypt. The Sabbath was given to Israel as a gift from God. They were the only nation in the world who observed this special and sacred day. This worship on the Sabbath of the one true God was a tremendous testimony to the world.

Notice that all of the slaves, proselytes, and animals were to receive a day of rest as well. God cares for even His animal creation!

The Sabbath Day was the only one of the Ten Commandments which was not repeated in the New Testament. Paul argued against enforcing it (cf. Rom. 14:5–6; Col. 2:16–17). The Christians changed the Sabbath day to Sunday.

Man needs to spend one day a week with his Creator. Those who work seven days a week become spiritually sick, mentally fatigued, and physically fatigued. They threatened their service to God and they shortened their lifespan. God does not need the Sabbath, but man does. The Sabbath was created for man, not God.

Sandy Koufax was Jewish, but he did not believe in Jesus as the Messiah. When Sandy Koufax chose not to pitch on the Sabbath during the World Series, he was not glorifying God. He was glorifying the Judaism practices of a multicultural world. The media of the satanic world system praised Koufax, but they should have pointed out the hypocrisy of his decision. Christian athletes should send an example to the children of this world by refusing to play on Sundays.

Sunday should be the day that the believer leaves open to honor the Lord Jesus Christ. Hebrews 2 condemns the Christian who habitually misses the Sunday worship. Immature believers will rarely miss work, school, or a sporting event when they are sick, tired, or lose a little sleep, but they make petty excuses for missing church. Many carnal Christians lose the opportunity to learn Bible doctrine from a gifted pastor teacher when they become complacent in their Sunday attendance.

Sunday attendance at a strong Bible teaching church should be the number one goal of the mature believer. Everything else, including work and education, should be secondary.

5:16 Honor your father and your mother just as the Lord your God has commanded you to do, so that your days may be extended and that it may go well with you in the land that he is about to give you.

The fifth commandment was to honor parents. If the children did not honor their parents, the children would die an early death or the land of Israel would be taken away.

Notice that the Holy Spirit included a warning to children. If children rebel against their parents, then they shorten their own life span.

If parents would teach their children the entire counsel of the Word of God at the deepest level, they will have less rebellious children. The child who does not receive Bible doctrine at home will rebel against their parents, because their soul (or personality) is devoid of Bible doctrine and filled with the teachings of the satanic world system. Hollywood, literature, secular education, and entertainment are all working together in a demonic way by teaching children to rebel against biblical principles.

5:17 You must not murder.

The sixth commandment was murder. Since man was made in God’s image, then he was not to murder, premeditated killing, another made in God’s image. This commandment did not include capital punishment or killing in war, since both of these others were allowed in other commandments.

This commandment does include abortion, because according to Jeremiah 1, it is God who forms the baby as a complete human being in the womb. John the Baptist communicated joy from the womb.

It is murder for the electorate to place politicians into office who pass laws to abort babies. God judges murder. He judges nations who commit mass genocide. America is a nation who is filled with godless fornicators who murder their own babies in the womb. God vomited the Canaanites out of their land for this same reason. Is it possible that God is currently bringing in Muslims to America who will abort the abortionists out of America?

5:18 You must not commit adultery.

The seventh commandment was committing adultery. Adultery was prevalent in ancient societies. It is prevalent in modern societies as well. It was a capital offense crime under the Mosaic Law. Fornication, (or sex before marriage), was prohibited in other commandments.

In 1948, Hollywood allowed one curse word in "Gone With the Wind." Now, Hollywood is filled with pornography, graphic violence, and evil. It is difficult to find a modern television show or movie which does not sneak in these types of satanic ideologies.

It is important to note that the Bible has a lot to say about sex. The satanic world system wants to teach their version of sex education by approving of same sex marriage in elementary text books, passing out condoms so that teenagers can commit more fornication, and enforcing transvestite bathrooms in public places and schools. The sex education of the Bible teaches sex inside of marriage only between a husband and his wife. All other types of sex are sins against God and sins against the people involved.

5:19 You must not steal.

The eighth commandment was theft. Theft is taking money, property, goods, work, or time from another.

One of the major types of theft today is socialism. Socialism is stealing from those who produce and giving to those who do not produce. The Bible is a capitalistic book. It is the church, not the government, who is to give to those in their own congregation who are in need. According to Romans 12, the government's responsibility is to enforce God's law and protect the people from the influences of satanism. The government is given the sword to execute those who do not follow the divine laws of God.

This theft would also most likely included kidnapping. Many cultures would kidnap others and make them slaves or human sacrifices. World history is the history of slavery. People who are totally depraved and evil unite so that they can enslave others into doing their work.

5:20 You must not offer false testimony against another.

The ninth commandment was perjury. One could not give false testimony in court against another. This law protected people’s rights of life, home, property, and reputation.

The American constitution guarantees these rights to their citizens. There are politicians today who want to take away these God-given natural rights. For this reason, the election in America is crucial in preserving these natural rights and protecting the citizens from the enforcement of globalist satanic principles.

5:21 You must not desire another man’s wife, nor should you crave his house, his field, his male and female servants, his ox, his donkey, or anything else he owns.”

The tenth commandment was lust for another’s wife, house, field, servant, ox, donkey, or anything else that one owns. This was a thought crime. Some people might claim that they could keep the first nine commandments, but no one could keep this tenth commandment. This law made everyone guilty and helpless before the Lord.

The Narrative of the Sinai Revelation and Israel’s Response

5:22 The Lord said these things to your entire assembly at the mountain from the middle of the fire, the cloud, and the darkness with a loud voice, and that was all he said. Then he inscribed the words on two stone tablets and gave them to me.

The Mosaic Law was given supernaturally by God only to the chosen nation of Israel. Since God required two witnesses, all ten of the commandments were most likely written on both tablets.

5:23 Then, when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness while the mountain was ablaze, all your tribal leaders and elders approached me.

Israel was the only nation who heard the verbal voice of God. All of the other pagan gods were either silent or demonic deceptions.

5:24 You said, “The Lord our God has shown us his great glory and we have heard him speak from the middle of the fire. It is now clear to us that God can speak to human beings and they can keep on living.

Israel was the only nation who was taught personally, visibly, and verbally by God. This generation saw the Shekinah Glory of God. They also were the only nation who heard his audible voice. Therefore, this first generation of Jews had no excuse for not obeying God.

5:25 But now, why should we die, because this intense fire will consume us! If we keep hearing the voice of the Lord our God we will die!

Receiving the Law was a frightful event. It brought judgment, death, and destruction against Israel, because they would never be able to keep it. The presence and voice of God scared the people of Israel to death.

5:26 Who is there from the entire human race who has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the middle of the fire as we have, and has lived?

Out of all of the nations throughout history, only Israel heard the true voice of God speaking from a fire on a mountain. If other nations did hear the voice of God, then the voice of God would cause their death.

5:27 You go near so that you can hear everything the Lord our God is saying and then you can tell us whatever he says to you; then we will pay attention and do it.”

Israel asked Moses to become the mediator of Israel. A mediator is one who stands between God and man. Moses was the mediator of the first (old) covenant. Jesus was the mediator of the second (new) covenant.

5:28 When the Lord heard you speaking to me, he said to me, “I have heard what these people have said to you – they have spoken well.

This was all part of God’s sovereign plan. God created Israel with a free will to make this request.

5:29 If only it would really be their desire to fear me and obey all my commandments in the future, so that it may go well with them and their descendants forever.

God knew Israel’s human nature was totally depraved and evil. He knew their true desire was not to fear and obey Him.

5:30 Go and tell them, ‘Return to your tents!’

Israel heard the first ten laws and that was enough. They did not want to hear the rest of God’s divine law. They were not interested in the mind of God or the righteousness of God. God would not force them to hear what they did not want to hear. He sent them to their tents.

5:31 But as for you, remain here with me so I can declare to you all the commandments, statutes, and ordinances that you are to teach them, so that they can carry them out in the land I am about to give them.”

Since the people were not interested in hearing anything else from God, God gave Moses the other 603 laws. These other laws that were given to Moses would be recorded in writing, starting in chapter 6.

5:32 Be careful, therefore, to do exactly what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn right or left!

Moses was to record in writing only what God told him to record. The Jews were to follow these laws exactly as they were written. During the days of Jesus, the liberal Sadducees would take away from these laws. The legalistic Pharisees would add to these laws. Today, cults and isms do the same. Secular education censors these divine laws from being taught in public schools.

5:33 Walk just as he has commanded you so that you may live, that it may go well with you, and that you may live long in the land you are going to possess.

Israel must be obedient to this law, or they will not survive in the land. They will all die, except for one exception. God will preserve a small Jewish believing remnant throughout history to bring in the Messiah as promised through the Abrahamic Covenant. Israel will attempt to destroy herself by rejecting these laws, but God will preserve a believing remnant.

Deuteronomy 6

Exhortation to Keep the Covenant Principles

6:1 Now these are the commandments, statutes, and ordinances that the Lord your God instructed me to teach you so that you may carry them out in the land where you are headed

After Israel heard the first Ten Commandments, they became afraid. They did not want to hear God speak any more of laws and judgments. They asked Moses to become their mediator. God sent them to their tents and gave the other 603 laws to Moses. These other 603 laws were given in the rest of the chapters of this book. Chapters 6-11 gave the warnings of the law to Israel.

6:2 and that you may so revere the Lord your God that you will keep all his statutes and commandments that I am giving you – you, your children, and your grandchildren – all your lives, to prolong your days.

Israel must adhere to these warnings if they wished to survive in the land. They were to teach these laws to their children. Notice that it was parents, not the government, who were to teach these biblical doctrinal principles to their own children.

6:3 Pay attention, Israel, and be careful to do this so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly in number – as the Lord, God of your ancestors, said to you, you will have a land flowing with milk and honey.

God had already hinted that Israel would not be willing to follow these laws. A land of milk and honey was a biblical metaphor for a land which was full of livestock and agriculture.

It is important to note that If every family today could possess their own land, livestock, and agriculture, then every family could run their own family business, educate their own children, become more self sufficient, rely less on city industry, protect their family from immorality in the work place, protect their family from community disease, protect their children from the secular governmental educational system, protect their children from bullying, protect their children from drug and sex influence of their peers, etc.

The Essence of the Covenant Principles

6:4 Listen, Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord is one!

In Hebrew, the text reads שְׁמַ֖ע יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ יְהוָ֥ה ׀ אֶחָֽד (Shamu, yisrael. Yahweh elohinu Yahweh echod). Many English versions mistranslate this verse. Literally, it translates as “Listen carefully, Israel. Jehovah our plural Jehovah is one composite God.”

Notice that there are two Hebrew words for “one.” יָחִיד (yichad) originally in the Hebrew Bible meant “one and only one.” Examples are Genesis 22:2, where Isaac was the יָחִיד (yichad), or the one and only one son of Abraham. In Judges 11:34, the daughter of Jephthah was his יָחִיד (yichad), or the one and only daughter. יָחִיד (yichad) is not used in this verse.

The other Hebrew word for one is אֶחָֽד (echod), meaning a composite one. Examples are Genesis 2:24, where Adam and Eve were created as אֶחָֽד (echod) flesh. In Numbers 13:23, the spies found an אֶחָֽד (echod), or one cluster of grapes. This verse uses אֶחָֽד (echod), meaning that God is a composite one. God is a triunity. Man is also a triunity, made of body, soul, and spirit,

This verse is called the Shema in Hebrew. The modern rabbi have switched around the meanings of יָחִיד (yichad) and אֶחָֽד (echod) in order to avoid the doctrine of the Trinity.

6:5 You must love the Lord your God with your whole mind, your whole being, and all your strength.

If one loves God, then he will obey Him. One cannot obey God unless he knows what to obey. One does not know what to obey unless he learns the mind of God. One cannot know the mind of God unless he studies from the entire counsel of the Word of God at the deepest level.

It is important to note that many Christians claim to love Christ, but they are not involved in deep Bible study. If a Christian is not involved in deep study of the Word of God, he does not know the mind of God. One cannot love God unless he knows the mind of God. Therefore, the depth of Bible study and the application of its message is the litmus to test one’s love of Christ.

Beware of people who say they love Christ, that they want to be active in ministry, that they want to serve Christ, but they are not interested in deep Bible study. Those involved in deep Bible study cannot get enough of the Bible. They want to study the Bible all of the time and teach what they have learned to others. They want to learn the deep things of the mind of Christ. They are the ones who love the Lord God with all of their mind, their being, and their strength.

Exhortation to Teach the Covenant Principles

6:6 These words I am commanding you today must be kept in mind, 6:7 and you must teach them to your children and speak of them as you sit in your house, as you walk along the road, as you lie down, and as you get up.

The Jews were to teach these laws to their children as a part of natural conversation from sunrise to sunset. This type of teaching does not take place in secular educational institutions. The educational leaders of the satanic world system make sure that the state educates the children and not biblical parents. This is why the government of the satanic world system works so hard against private Christian institutions and home schooling.

It is important to note that the devil wants to steal the children of biblical parents by educating them in Satan's own version of secular education. The curriculum of the public schools of the satanic world system is secular humanism, evolution, situational ethics, same sex marriage, transgenderism, sex education, and an over emphasis in athletics and fine arts. This type of humanistic education wears down the young student, leaving them too fatigued to study the Bible.

The Bible should not be censored in public schools. It should not be diminished by making it equal or less than other secular books of history. The Bible should not be taught as an uninspired and fallible book.

The Bible should be taught as the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. It should be the center of all educational institutions on this earth. Because man is so totally depraved, evil, and influenced by demonic forces, Biblical education will not get its proper place until the Millennial Kingdom arrives.

6:8 You should tie them as a reminder on your forearm and fasten them as symbols on your forehead.

If taken literally, wearing phylacteries on the forearm and forehead was part of the Mosaic Law. The sin that Jesus pointed out was that they made the phylacteries extra-large in size for show.

Modern phylacteries should be worn today, so that Bible memorization can be studied during down times of the day. Modern cell phones with Bible memorization and biblical language flashcards are good ideas for today.

6:9 Inscribe them on the door frames of your houses and gates.

The mezuzah was to be nailed to the door frames of the houses and gates of every Jewish home. The mezuzah contained Deuteronomy 6:4. Every time an Israelite entered his own home, above his door was a sign advertising that God was one triune God. There were no other gods. The polytheistic religious system of the Gentiles was false.

Exhortation to Worship the Lord Exclusively

6:10 Then when the Lord your God brings you to the land he promised your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to give you – a land with large, fine cities you did not build, 6:11 houses filled with choice things you did not accumulate, hewn out cisterns you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant – and you eat your fill, 6:12 be careful not to forget the Lord who brought you out of Egypt, that place of slavery.

God was about to give Israel “instant prosperity”. They were to receive free land, free cities, free buildings, free homes, free furniture, free wells, free vineyards, free olive groves, and free livestock. This gift from God was prosperity that they did not earn. God warned Israel not to forget the true source of their instant prosperity.

6:13 You must revere the Lord your God, serve him, and take oaths using only his name.

Even though Israel was to receive instant prosperity, they were still to fear God, serve God, and make oaths using only His name. One takes oaths to the one he fears. Man needs to be careful when he makes oaths to God. Most people are totally depraved and evil and void of Bible doctrine. God expects man to keep his vow, but most people are too carnal to keep their vows to God.

Beware of tricky pastors who seduce church-goers into making donation vows to God via the "filling out of the annual budget card" system. This type of pastor is attempting to fill his own pockets by placing the church-goer under the judgment of God. God expects the believer to keep this vow. Like Jesus taught, it is better for people not to make vows to God, because people will not have enough Bible doctrine to keep them.

6:14 You must not go after other gods, those of the surrounding peoples,

God has placed in all people the need to worship God. Those who forget God will replace this need with worshipping other false demonic gods. The Gentiles all over the world were worshipping polytheistic idols of creation rather than the Creator. They worshipped the sun, moon, stars, trees, plants, animals, and even their own dead ancestors.

6:15 for the Lord your God, who is present among you, is a jealous God and his anger will erupt against you and remove you from the land.

God is the only true God. His jealousy holds on to this relationship with His chosen people. He will not allow evil demons to take away this relationship with His people. If the people decide to worship demons, then God will remove Israel from the land.

Exhortation to Obey the Lord Exclusively

6:16 You must not put the Lord your God to the test as you did at Massah.

When Israel was thirsty at Massah, instead of trusting God to know of their thirst and their need for water, they complained and quarreled. He reminded this new generation of this embarrassing incident of their parents so that they would not make the same mistake.

6:17 Keep his commandments very carefully, as well as the stipulations and statutes he commanded you to observe.

This new generation was commanded to keep the Mosaic Law very carefully. They were not to deviate from it, as their parents often did.

6:18 Do whatever is proper and good before the Lord so that it may go well with you and that you may enter and occupy the good land that he promised your ancestors,

If the new generation obeyed the Law, then they would be blessed. Things would go well for them. They would prosper spiritually, physically, and materially. This promise was not for the modern church.

Beware of modern prosperity preachers who incorrectly use this verse to teach that God materially prospers individuals today. The modern church is not called to prosper materially. They are called to suffer in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Wealth is a gift from God which is given to build the church. Those who possess the gift of giving are given wealth to give. If one is rich and prosperous, then it is only because God has given this family the wealth to build the church.

6:19 and that you may drive out all your enemies just as the Lord said.

If the new generation obeyed the Law, then they would be able to drive all of their enemies out of the land. God was not tolerant of unbelieving next-door neighbors. Unbelievers in the land were to be removed from the land by God-called genocide.

It is important to note that God is the only one who can call for genocide. Modern human military political and military leaders do not have the freedom to call upon the total genocide of race.

Exhortation to Remember the Past

6:20 When your children ask you later on, “What are the stipulations, statutes, and ordinances that the Lord our God commanded you?”

Children would become curious about the Mosaic Law.

6:21 you must say to them, “We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt, but the Lord brought us out of Egypt in a powerful way.

The parents were to answer in a specific, five-point process. First, the parents were to remind their children of the Exodus.

6:22 And he brought signs and great, devastating wonders on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on his whole family before our very eyes.

Second, the parents were to remind their children of the miracles of God.

6:23 He delivered us from there so that he could give us the land he had promised our ancestors.

Third, the parents were to remind their children about the promises of the Abrahamic Covenant.

6:24 The Lord commanded us to obey all these statutes and to revere him so that it may always go well for us and he may preserve us, as he has to this day.

Fourth, the parents were commanded to teach their children to always obey the Mosaic Law so that they could survive as a nation.

6:25 We will be innocent if we carefully keep all these commandments before the Lord our God, just as he demands.”

Fifth, the parents were to remind their children that they would be innocent if they kept the commandments. Public schools today all over the world censor the teachings of the Abrahamic Covenant. Satan does not want the members of his satanic world system to know that God still has a plan for Israel.

Deuteronomy 07

The Dispossession of Nonvassals

7:1 When the Lord your God brings you to the land that you are going to occupy and forces out many nations before you – Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, seven nations more numerous and powerful than you –

These seven Canaanite tribes were the most totally depraved people of this time period. They drugged and forced their most beautiful daughters into harems and prostitution temples. They practiced homosexuality, lesbianism, pedophilia, sex with animals, and sex with the dead. They practiced human and infant sacrifice. They were involved in both demonism and the occult. They would openly engage and seduce others into their satanically inspired culture.

Judah was the fourth son of Jacob and the promised seed son of the Messiah. Judah was seduced into this Canaanite culture. He intermarried the seed line with the Canaanites. In his preordained sovereignty, God reacted by pulling Israel out of Canaan and placing her in Egypt. God told Abraham that He would give the Canaanites 400 years to turn from their evil ways. The 400 years were now up, but the Canaanites had become even more evil. They were past the point of no return. If the Canaanites were not destroyed, then they would seduce all of the other nations of the world (including Israel) into their demonic and violent culture. The Canaanites were a cancer which had to be cut out of the earth.

7:2 and he delivers them over to you and you attack them, you must utterly annihilate them. Make no treaty with them and show them no mercy!

God ordered the genocide of all seven Canaanite tribes. Liberals who do not understand the mind of God and the total depravity of man often attack the Bible on this issue.

Genocide is holy and righteous if and only if God calls for it. Only God can call for genocide of a nation. Catholic popes, Muslim ayatollahs, Christian religious leaders, nor Christian political leaders can call for a genocide.

One of the purposes of the Great Tribulation is to purge evil and evil ones from this earth. Evil and good cannot coexist in God's kingdom. God will call for another divine genocide before the Millennial Kingdom is established. All who reject Christ will lose their physical and eternal lives. They will spend their eternal life in the Lake of Fire. God is love, but He is also holy and righteous. He will not allow murderers, rapists, homosexuals, lesbians, pedofiles, thieves, transgenderists, liars, drug dealers, and Christ-rejecters to live in His heaven on earth. Humans get angry at judges when they release a pedofile or murderer on the street. How much more righteous should God punish these same type of evil men?

If these Canaanite tribes had repented, God would have spared them, just as He did with Nineveh. If there is an age of accountability, then this genocide may have been the only way for God to save the Canaanite children from the eternal Lake of Fire.

7:3 You must not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons,

Israel was not to marry the Canaanites. Their father-in-law would be the devil. The devil is the father of all lies. His lies are seductive, because they are filled with truth and error. It takes complete Bible doctrine from the entire counsel of the Word of God to discern truth.

7:4 for they will turn your sons away from me to worship other gods. Then the anger of the Lord will erupt against you and he will quickly destroy you.

The Canaanites were a culture who seduced others into their degradation. The nation of Israel was almost degraded and assimilated when Judah intermarried with a Canaanite woman. If Israel married into the Canaanite culture, then Israel would be destroyed as well.

7:5 Instead, this is what you must do to them: You must tear down their altars, shatter their sacred pillars, cut down their sacred Asherah poles, and burn up their idols.

These Canaanite altars were used for human sacrifice. Their pillars were used for sexual prostitution cults. The Asherah poles were images of erect male organs. These idols were to be burned so that Israel would not be curious and seduced into idolatry.

7:6 For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. He has chosen you to be his people, prized above all others on the face of the earth.

Israel was chosen by God to be a holy nation. They were not chosen to fall into idolatry like the other Gentile nations. They were chosen to worship the one and only true God.

The Basis of Israel’s Election

7:7 It is not because you were more numerous than all the other peoples that the Lord favored and chose you – for in fact you were the least numerous of all peoples.

God did not choose Israel because of her size. Israel was a very small nation who would have been devoured by the larger and more powerful nations.

7:8 Rather it is because of his love for you and his faithfulness to the promise he solemnly vowed to your ancestors that the Lord brought you out with great power, redeeming you from the place of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

God chose Israel for two reasons. First, He loved her. Second, He made a promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Man does not keep his promises, but God does. The reason that Israel still exists in the news today is because of the Abrahamic Covenant.

7:9 So realize that the Lord your God is the true God, the faithful God who keeps covenant faithfully with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,

God made a covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God keeps His promises. Therefore, Israel was living under the security of God’s promise.

A generation in Scripture can be 20, 40, 60, 80, or 120 years. Some rabbi and Christian Bible teachers spiritualize this passage to symbolize a mythical 7000-year plan of God. This mythical theory teaches that there was 2000 years from Adam to Noah, 2000 years from Noah to Jesus, 2000 years from Jesus to his Second Coming, and a literal 1000 year Millennial Kingdom. totaling 7000 years. Scripture is silent on the length of God’s entire Messianic program, so any 7000-year plan taught by many Bible teachers is simply speculation. It is possible, but it is speculation.

7:10 but who pays back those who hate him as they deserve and destroys them. He will not ignore those who hate him but will repay them as they deserve!

God rewards the good and punishes the wicked. If Israel loved God, then they would have followed the Mosaic Law and be blessed. If Israel hated God, then they would not follow this Mosaic Law and be cursed.

In application, if a Christian really loves God, then he will study the entire counsel of the Word of God at the deepest level and apply what he learns. Those who do not study and apply the Bible at the deepest level do not love God. They will not be interested in attending church, studying the Bible at the deepest level, or applying what they have learned.

7:11 So keep the commandments, statutes, and ordinances that I today am commanding you to do.

Israel was commanded to keep the Mosaic Law. If a believer loves God, then he will study and apply Bible doctrine at the deepest level.

Promises of Good for Covenant Obedience

7:12 If you obey these ordinances and are careful to do them, the Lord your God will faithfully keep covenant with you as he promised your ancestors.

If Israel obeyed the Mosaic Law, then they would be blessed. If Israel disobeyed the Mosaic Law, then God would still keep His part of the promise, although Israel would suffer discipline.

7:13 He will love and bless you, and make you numerous. He will bless you with many children, with the produce of your soil, your grain, your new wine, your oil, the offspring of your oxen, and the young of your flocks in the land which he promised your ancestors to give you.

If Israel kept the covenant, then they would be prosperous in childbirth and agriculture. Israel will experience this future Golden Age during the Millennial Kingdom.

7:14 You will be blessed beyond all peoples; there will be no barrenness among you or your livestock.

If Israel kept the covenant, then their livestock production would be blessed. Israel will experience this future Golden Age during the Millennial Kingdom.

7:15 The Lord will protect you from all sickness, and you will not experience any of the terrible diseases that you knew in Egypt; instead he will inflict them on all those who hate you.

If Israel kept the covenant, then they would not suffer any of the fatal diseases which were prevalent in Egypt. Many of the Gentile nations suffered death through many diseases of history, such as the Bubonic Plague. The Mongols spread this Black Death down the Silk Road to the Chinese, Indians, Muslims, Russians, Africans, and Europeans. The Bubonic Plague would not strike Israel, because they practiced the sanitary hand washing procedures of the Mosaic Covenant. Since the Jews did not catch this disease, the Europeans blamed and persecuted Israel for the spread of the Black Death by poisoning the water.

Exhortation to Destroy Canaanite Paganism

7:16 You must destroy all the people whom the Lord your God is about to deliver over to you; you must not pity them or worship their gods, for that will be a snare to you.

If Israel refused to destroy all of the Canaanites within their borders, then they would be seduced and ensnared by the Canaanite gods.

7:17 If you think, “These nations are more numerous than I – how can I dispossess them?”

Their parents were afraid of the size and power of the Anakites.

7:18 you must not fear them. You must carefully recall what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and all Egypt,

The Canaanites were not to be feared. God would destroy them, just as he destroyed the Egyptians.

7:19 the great judgments you saw, the signs and wonders, the strength and power by which he brought you out – thus the Lord your God will do to all the people you fear.

Moses assured this next generation that God would use miracles to defeat the Canaanites.

7:20 Furthermore, the Lord your God will release hornets among them until the very last ones who hide from you perish.

God would release literal hornets on the Canaanites, so that they would run away from battle. If hornets attacked a legion of soldiers, then all the soldiers could do was run away in pain and agony. This type of supernatural warfare guaranteed no casualties to the Israelite soldiers. Some liberals spiritualize this passage to mean that Egypt was the hornets, but this is a faulty hermeneutics. "If the plain meaning of Scripture makes sense, then seek no other sense."

7:21 You must not tremble in their presence, for the Lord your God, who is present among you, is a great and awesome God.

Moses reminded this new generation that God was on their side, so there was no need to fear the large Canaanite armies.

7:22 He, the God who leads you, will expel the nations little by little. You will not be allowed to destroy them all at once lest the wild animals overrun you.

God would not complete the genocide of the Canaanites all at once, because the wild animals would take over the land and make it dangerous for the citizens of Israel.

7:23 The Lord your God will give them over to you; he will throw them into a great panic until they are destroyed.

Moses informed the new generation that God would send panic to the Canaanite armies.

7:24 He will hand over their kings to you and you will erase their very names from memory. Nobody will be able to resist you until you destroy them.

The Canaanite kings would be defeated. Their names would be erased from history.

7:25 You must burn the images of their gods, but do not covet the silver and gold that covers them so much that you take it for yourself and thus become ensnared by it; for it is abhorrent to the Lord your God.

All Deuteronomy 07
