104:1 Praise the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, you are magnificent. You are robed in splendor and majesty.
The author of this song is unknown. This song was sung at the Jewish festivals. The psalmist asked the congregation to praise Jehovah. He was to be praised, because He was גָּדַל (gadal), meaning exalted or highly valued. Jehovah is robed in the splendor of the Shechinah Glory.
104:2 He covers himself with light as if it were a garment. He stretches out the skies like a tent curtain,
Jehovah covers Himself with א֭וֹר (or), which was the light which was present during the creation week. God stretches out the heavens just as a nomadic shepherd stretches out his tent in the desert.
104:3 and lays the beams of the upper rooms of his palace on the rain clouds. He makes the clouds his chariot, and travels along on the wings of the wind.
God makes the rain clouds just like a builder would make the beams of his palace. The clouds are God’s chariot. God travels along the wings of the wind.
104:4 He makes the winds his messengers, and the flaming fire his attendant.
The winds are fast, so they are the messengers of God. The flaming fire is the servant of God. Stars are made of flaming fire.
104:5 He established the earth on its foundations; it will never be upended.
God established the foundations of the earth to be permanent. God must laugh at those scientists who think that more taxes can save the world from global warming.
104:6 The watery deep covered it like a garment; the waters reached above the mountains.
During the global flood, the waters covered all of the mountains. There are sea life creature fossils on the top of every mountain in the world.
104:7 Your shout made the waters retreat; at the sound of your thunderous voice they hurried off—
God shouted and the world flooded.
104:8 as the mountains rose up, and the valleys went down— to the place you appointed for them.
The flood changed the geography of the world. All of the mountains and valleys were ceased by the flood. The valleys were formed to hold the global water.
104:9 You set up a boundary for them that they could not cross, so that they would not cover the earth again.
God establish the boundaries of the oceans and seas.
104:10 He turns springs into streams; they flow between the mountains.
God used the flood to produce the streams which flow on the earth.
104:11 They provide water for all the animals in the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
The flood produced lakes, rivers, and streams so that the animals could drink.
104:12 The birds of the sky live beside them; they chirp among the bushes.
The birds of the sky live beside the animals of the world. They can be heard chirping in the bushes.
104:13 He waters the mountains from the upper rooms of his palace; the earth is full of the fruit you cause to grow.
God causes rain to fall on the mountains. He causes rain to fall on the crops of the earth.
104:14 He provides grass for the cattle, and crops for people to cultivate, so they can produce food from the ground, 104:15 as well as wine that makes people feel so good, and so they can have oil to make their faces shine, as well as food that sustains people’s lives.
God provides five different things for the world. First, He provides grass for cattle. Second, He provide crops for people. Third, He provides wine so that people can drink it and feel good. Fourth, He provides oils for cosmetics. Fifth, He provides food to sustain people’s lives.
It is important to note that the Bible no where forbids the drinking of wine. It does forbid one from getting drunk from wine.
104:16 The trees of the Lord receive all the rain they need, the cedars of Lebanon which he planted, 104:17 where the birds make nests, near the evergreens in which the herons live.
God provides rain for the trees so that the birds will have a safe place to make their nests.
104:18 The wild goats live in the high mountains; the rock badgers find safety in the cliffs.
God created high mountains for the safety of the wild goats. He made cliffs for the safety of the rock badgers.
104:19 He made the moon to mark the months, and the sun sets according to a regular schedule.
Notice that God’s original calendar was a lunar calendar. The solar calendar may have been an invention of Satan in order to confuse men as to the prophecies of the timing of the Messiah. For example, the Book of Daniel predicted the exact day in which the Messiah would step into Jerusalem. However, the prophecy was based upon the original Jewish calendar. Rome was using the solar calendar.
God also set the sun on a regular schedule. The distance of the sun, the distance of the moon, the tilt of the earth, and the thickness of the ozone layer is also set at such precise measurements, that just a little fluctuation in any of these ecosystems would end all life on earth.
104:20 You make it dark and night comes, during which all the beasts of the forest prowl around.
God created darkness so that the beasts of prowl could survive. It is interesting to note that light dispels darkness, but darkness cannot dispel light.
104:21 The lions roar for prey, seeking their food from God.
When a lion roars for prey, he is seeking food from God.
104:22 When the sun rises, they withdraw and sleep in their dens.
One reason that the sun rises is so that lions can sleep in their dens. Lions sleep an average of 20 hours per day. When they are awake, it is best to not be around their hunting grounds. Roaring lions looking for prey is also a symbol of Satan.
104:23 Men then go out to do their work, and labor away until evening.
Daylight was created so that men could do their work.
104:24 How many living things you have made, O Lord! You have exhibited great skill in making all of them; the earth is full of the living things you have made.
Jehovah should be praised for all of the living plants, birds, fishes, animals, insects, and microscopic creatures which He has created. None of these living creatures evolved from dead dirt. Honest scientists will teach that even the amoeba is extremely complex. There is no such thing as simple life. The earth is full of complex life forms which were specially created by God Himself.
104:25 Over here is the deep, wide sea, which teems with innumerable swimming creatures, living things both small and large.
There are more species of sea life than land life. Some new sea creatures are still being discovered. Most of the fossils are sea-life fossils. Ninety-five percent of all fossils are clams. Another four percent of the fossils are other sea-life creatures. One percent of the fossils makes up everything else.
104:26 The ships travel there, and over here swims the whale you made to play in it.
The Hebrew word for “whale” is לִוְיָתָן (leviathan), meaning dragon, sea serpent, or dinosaur. Dinosaurs were existing with man at one time. This dinosaur that men played with may have been the plesiosaurs or some other type of marine reptile. Many biased commentators allege that the לִוְיָתָן (leviathan) was a crocodile, but men do not play with crocodiles in the deep ocean. Nor do they play with whales.
104:27 All of your creatures wait for you to provide them with food on a regular basis.
All of the creatures of the entire world wait for God to provide them food. This cycle occurs on a daily basis.
104:28 You give food to them and they receive it; you open your hand and they are filled with food.
Animals will receive food from men.
104:29 When you ignore them, they panic. When you take away their life’s breath, they die and return to dust.
When animals are not fed, then they panic. When a man kills an animal, then the animal returns to dust. Man is so totally depraved and evil, that he wishes to love as an animal. The evolutionary faith teaches man that he is nothing but an advanced animal. Therefore, he should “eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow he dies.”
104:30 When you send your life-giving breath, they are created, and you replenish the surface of the ground.
When God breathes, then animals are created. God replenishes the population system of animals. No animal or human being can even get pregnant without God’s sovereign decision.
104:31 May the splendor of the Lord endure! May the Lord find pleasure in the living things he has made!
May the Shechinah Glory of Jehovah shine forever. May the Lord find pleasure in His creation.
It is important to note that most or all of the pagan nations worshiped the creation rather than the Creator. The psalmist makes it clear to Israel that God is the Creator. Creation was made for His enjoyment. People were made for the enjoyment of God. God enjoys having fellowship with His creation.
104:32 He looks down on the earth and it shakes; he touches the mountains and they start to smolder.
All it takes is one glance from God and the earth shakes. God can touch one mountain and cause them all to melt away.
104:33 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God as long as I exist!
The psalmist will praise Jehovah for his entire earthly existence.
104:34 May my thoughts be pleasing to him! I will rejoice in the Lord.
The psalmist prayed about his thought life. Most people in the world would be embarrassed if their thought life was revealed. The only way to improve one’s thought life is by mastering Bible doctrine and continual confession of sins as according to 1 John 1:9. Confessing of sins does not save a person, because the believer is already saved for eternity. Continual confession of sin cleanses the believer so that he can be used for service.
104:35 May sinners disappear from the earth, and the wicked vanish! Praise the Lord, O my soul! Praise the Lord!
The psalmist prayed that Jehovah would purge sinners out of the world. The satanic world system does not want Christians to pray like this today. These kinds of prayers place those of the satanic world system at great risk. The Lord Jesus Christ will answer this prayer during the Great Tribulation. Most soft-hearted liberal and seeker-friendly churches will not teach this part of Scripture, because it reduces their attendance and their revenue from the collection plates. The divine truth is that there can be no peace in the world until the Lord Jesus Christ returns and purges evil beings and evil humans out of this world.
According to Romans, Paul taught Christians that they should attempt to make their enemies their friends by giving them the gospel. If corrupt politicians, judges, and evil men reject the gospel and begin to exploit believers because of their Christian faith, then it is OK to ask God to purge these evil men out of this earth.
