A song, a psalm of David.

David was the author of this song. This song is a combination of sections of Psalm 57 and Psalm 60. This song was sung by the Levitical priests at the Jewish festivals.

108:1 I am determined, O God! I will sing and praise you with my whole heart.

David will sing praises to God.

108:2 Awake, O stringed instrument and harp! I will wake up at dawn!

The songs of David would be accompanied with stringed instruments. It is legalism for a church to forbid musical instruments in their church. There is no teaching of the Bible that states that musical instruments are not to be used in the church.

108:3 I will give you thanks before the nations, O Lord! I will sing praises to you before foreigners!

David will praise Jehovah before the Gentiles. David will be allowed to sing this song to all of the Gentiles who will be living in the future Millennial Kingdom.

108:4 For your loyal love extends beyond the sky, and your faithfulness reaches the clouds.

When God makes a promise, He keeps it.

108:5 Rise up above the sky, O God! May your splendor cover the whole earth!

David is looking forward to the Millennial Kingdom, when the Shechinah Glory will cover the earth.

108:6 Deliver by your power and answer me, so that the ones you love may be safe.

David asked God to deliver the Jewish remnant during the Great Tribulation.

108:7 God has spoken in his sanctuary: “I will triumph! I will parcel out Shechem, the valley of Succoth I will measure off.

God has decreed from heaven that He will triumph over all of His enemies. This would include the Antichrist of the Great Tribulation.

108:8 Gilead belongs to me, as does Manasseh! Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my royal scepter.

God is the One who established the boundaries of nations. He established the line of David to bring in the Messianic King.

108:9 Moab is my wash basin. I will make Edom serve me. I will shout in triumph over Philistia.”

The Moabites, Edomites, and Philistines were all enemies of Israel. God will conquer all of them.

108:10 Who will lead me into the fortified city? Who will bring me to Edom?

Jehovah will lead Israel into battle against her enemies. Edom is the location of Petra. During the Great Tribulation, God will protect the Jewish remnant from their enemies from the ancient Edomite city of Petra.

108:11 Have you not rejected us, O God? O God, you do not go into battle with our armies.

Has God rejected Israel during the Great Tribulation?

108:12 Give us help against the enemy, for any help men might offer is futile.

The Jews in Petra will ask God to conquer their enemies. Their enemies will be the armies of the Antichrist.

108:13 By God’s power we will conquer; he will trample down our enemies.

At the end of the Great Tribulation, God will conquer the Gentile armies which assemble against Israel.
