148:1 Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the sky! Praise him in the heavens!
Psalms 146-150 are praise songs. The author(s) are unknown.
There are two different Hebrew words used for “sky” and “heavens.” The first Hebrew word used is הַשָּׁמַ֑יִם (ha-shamayim), meaning most likely the first and/or second heavens. The first and second heavens is the sky of the birds and the outer space of the moon, planets, and stars.
The second Hebrew word used is בַּמְּרוֹמִֽים (ba-miroimim), meaning “in the highest.” This most likely refers to the third heavens, which is the dwelling place of God.
148:2 Praise him, all his angels! Praise him, all his heavenly assembly!
All of the created beings are called to praise Jehovah. This may include the saints who have been called to heaven during the Great Tribulation.
148:3 Praise him, O sun and moon! Praise him, all you shiny stars!
All of creation will praise Jehovah.
148:4 Praise him, O highest heaven, and you waters above the sky!
The “waters above the sky” (Genesis 1:7) were possibly a water canopy which surrounded the atmosphere of the earth before the flood. They may be restored during the Millennial Kingdom. If so, then this canopy in space would bring a greenhouse type effect upon the environment of the earth. There will be no air pollution during the Millennial Kingdom (Revelation 20) or the Eternal Kingdom (Revelation 21-22).
There are many greedy politicians of the satanic world system who want to control their people by taxation. They will use holes in the ozone layer, asbestos inhalation, global warming, climate, and other so-called science finds in order to increase taxes and wield more power. The purpose of Greenpeace is to tax citizens and bring more profit to Greenpeace-liberal businesses.
It is very possible that the Antichrist will possibly use Greenpeace and climate change in order to execute a global tax which he will eventually be controlled by the Antichrist. This is why it is important for pastors to train an electorate who masters and applies Bible doctrine. An electorate with strong Bible doctrine can keep the greedy and godless liberals out of office. When the church quits teaching the entire counsel of the Word of God at the deepest level, then the electorate will vote for godless liberals who will take away their property, their wealth, their healthcare, their ability to produce and buy food, their first amendment rights, and their freedom of worship.
148:5 Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he gave the command and they came into existence.
The Bible teaches instantaneous creation, not creation occurring over millions of years.
148:6 He established them so they would endure; he issued a decree that will not be revoked.
According to 2 Peter 3:10, the earth will eventually be cleansed by fire. However, God’s physical universe will endure forever. The reason is that God does not un-create anything that He has created.
148:7 Praise the Lord from the earth, you sea creatures and all you ocean depths,
Notice that all of the sea creation will praise Jehovah as well. The Hebrew word for “sea creatures” is תַּ֝נִּינִ֗ים (taninim), meaning “dragons.” This verse does not refer to mythical dragons. The modern translation would be “dinosaurs,” since the word “dinosaur” did not exist in the English language until 1842.
Dinosaurs did get on the ark with Noah. The harsh mini-ice age conditions of the post-flood world may have reduced their population. Almost every ancient culture on earth has recorded “dragons” in their art and literature. Since fossil bones were not discovered until 1842, then history recorded the existence of dinosaurs among all of the ancient cultures.
It is important to note that the present creation is “groaning and travailing in pain” under the “bondage of corruption” (Romans 8:20-22). When the Lord Jesus Christ returns and establishes His 1,000 year Millennial Kingdom, then all of creation will praise Him as Creator.
148:8 O fire and hail, snow and clouds, O stormy wind that carries out his orders, 148:9 you mountains and all you hills, you fruit trees and all you cedars, 148:10 you animals and all you cattle, you creeping things and birds, 148:11 you kings of the earth and all you nations, you princes and all you leaders on the earth, 148:12 you young men and young women, you elderly, along with you children! 148:13 Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his majesty extends over the earth and sky.
The psalmist called upon all of creation to praise Jehovah. During the Millennial Kingdom, the animal world will no longer be at war with each other. They will live with each other in harmony.
148:14 He has made his people victorious, and given all his loyal followers reason to praise— the Israelites, the people who are close to him. Praise the Lord!
Things may no be good for the people of God during the age of Satan, but God will win in the end. The wicked will have their day for a very short time, but eternity belongs to the children of God. The day of the wicked is just a drop of dirty water in the realm of eternity. The atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ will cleanse the world of sin once and for all.
